Breast Ultrasound

What is a Breast Ultrasound?

Breast Ultrasound is used as a mammography supplement to help distinguish the characteristics of a lump or a breast mass. Use of ultrasound allows Solis radiologists to make well-informed decisions about patient cases.

Ultrasound is performed by the radiologist when it is needed to help clarify mammographic information, especially for women with dense breasts, and to help diagnosis when abnormalities are expected.

On it's own, a breast ultrasound is not a routine screening method for breast cancer. It is only typically used to supplement a screening or diagnostic mammogram.
